Pope Francis leads the world in prayer and blessing on Friday at 5pm

Pope Francis will lead an extraordinary global celebration of prayer on Friday 27th March at 5pm (Irish time) in Rome.  

Pope Francis will lead a global celebration of prayer from outside St. Peter’s Basilica on Friday 27th March at 5pm (Irish time). 

It will take place on the platform at the top of the steps in front of Saint Peter’s Basilica.  The ceremony will consist of readings from the Scriptures, prayers and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Then Pope Francis give his blessing Urbi et Orbi (to the City [of Rome] and to the world).  

During this prayer ceremony the Pope will grant to participants all over the world a plenary indulgence in the context of the Coronavirus. RTÉ, will facilitate the live broadcast of Pope Francis’ extraordinary Urbi et Orbi blessing on the RTE News Now Channel (Saorview channel 21; Virgin Media 200; Sky 521; Eir 500 and on the RTÉ News Now App.)
