Thursday August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption and a Holyday

Thursday August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady in Heaven. It is a holy day of obligation – meaning it is one of the special weekdays during the year when Catholics participate in the Eucharist at Mass.

August 15th is known in many parts of Ireland as “Lady Day” and is a day when many people attend centuries old devotions and prayer services at shrines to Our Lady and at holy wells.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes which adorns the avenue into Enniskeane Church. To mark the Silver Jubilee of the Grotto, rosary will be prayed at the Grotto at 7pm on Thurs 15th. (Rosary has been prayed faithfully every Sunday eve for the past 25 years at the Grotto.) Mass for the holy day will be offered in the church at 7.30pm and will be followed by Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament. All welcome.

All Organ pipes are sponsored! Many thanks.

This is good news for our parish but I’m sure a few may be disappointed. All the 678 pipes being installed in the pipe organ of our parish church in Enniskeane have been sponsored!

Sincere thanks to all who have supported the organ installation. In spite of these being challenging times for everyone, people have shown great generosity. May the good Lord bless all who have their names on the pipes and may he reward the sponsors with his kindness.

By coincidence, the last of the pipes are also being installed this week by Padraig O’Donovan.

The organ will be blessed and dedicated by Bishop Buckley on Dec 7th.

Final set of pipes installed this week

The final set of pipes being installed in the Enniskeane Church pipe organ will be in place this week. All the organ’s original 622 pipes are already installed.

The addional set of 56 pipes (also known as a “stop”) will bring the number of pipes to 678. The extra set will add the sound of a trumpet to the organ’s range. These pipes were sourced in the west of Ireland and are from a church pipe organ that has been taken out of use.

Painting of the gallery is now ongoing in preparation for the choir’s return the gallery in preparation for the dedication Mass on Dec 7th.
